I feel kind of foolish for even legitimizing this ridiculous conspiracy theory with my commentary, but its adherents number more than a few, and it’s once again in the news, so i suppose it warrants a response. I’m reminded of a saying the fundamentalists are fond of using regarding the existence of God: [...] [...] Today’s ridiculous “conservative” blogosphere outrage is about the secret service providing “too much” protection for the administration. Let there be an assassination attempt (even a foiled one) on the President’s life or that of one of the top officials in the administration, and then they’ll complain about “too little” protection too. [...] About a week ago, the conservative media latched onto a phrase made famous in a recent memo, absurdly comparing the Horizon blow-out and the resulting massive oil spill to Hurricane Katrina, and the US Government’s response to this disaster to that one.
